In her first World Championships, Kim Vandenberg finished the 200m butterfly just three-tenths of second behind the world-record holder for a silver medal and a new lifetime-best mark. That performance makes her the third-fastest American woman ever in the 200m butterfly behind Misty Hyman and Mary T. Meagher.
